ICN.
InterCity tilting trains connect Switzerland’s city centres on the Foot-of-the-Jura line. The 44 trains will be refurbished in Yverdon between 2021 and 2034, enabling their deployment for another 20 years.
Thanks to its tilting system, the ICN can run at high speed on winding routes, thus shortening travel times. The refurbishment includes various measures aimed at extending the trains' service life. Furthermore, passenger comfort will be improved thanks to an upgraded interior, with seats being re-padded and re-upholstered and carpets replaced. New sidewall tables with sockets provide additional convenience, while a revised lighting concept creates a pleasant atmosphere. The business zone, family zone and cycle spaces are also due to undergo improvements. A new customer information system with modern monitors make sure that passengers are always well informed. On top of all that, the 44 dining cars are set to be standardised and enhanced with new interiors and kitchens.
The ICN is marked 'TT' (tilting train) in the online timetable and SBB Mobile app.
