IR double-decker (RABe 511).

24 of these double-deck trains were upgraded from Regio double-deckers to InterRegio double-deckers between 2020 and 2024. They are deployed in interregional services in German-speaking Switzerland and Romandy. They can run in dual traction with the new IR double-decker (RABe 512).

SBB has upgraded 24 trains from the IR double-decker fleet by adding several features aimed at enhancing passenger comfort and convenience. In 2nd class, passengers now benefit from sockets at almost every seat. In 1st class, customers benefit from the new 2:1 seating layout, 1st-class-only boarding, and reduced noise levels. Larger sidewall tables along with wider and moveable armrests provide additional comfort. The level of comfort now conforms to the standard in long-distance services.
