New IR double-decker (RABe 512).

The first of a total of 60 new InterRegio double-decker trains (RABe 512) have been in service since July 2023. The last of the trains is due for delivery at the end of 2026. Thanks to the new IR double-decker, SBB can now offer its passengers even more comfortable journeys in the Zurich/Swiss Plateau region and in Romandy.

SBB is bolstering its fleet with the IR double-decker, a tried and tested vehicle type that integrates benefits from newer train generations. Level access boarding points allow passengers to travel unhindered. Furthermore, the interior corresponds to the standard in long-distance services and offers 2:1 seating in 1st class.
