How can I rent a locker?

Red and grey lockers (cash, credit cards, Twint and much more). Place your luggage in an empty locker. Close the door until it clicks into place (you will hear a click). Pay the amount shown on the screen. Remove the receipt with the QR code and keep it. To collect your luggage, scan the QR code. Blue lockers (Credit cards and Twint via smartphone). Scan the QR code on the locker system with your smartphone. Select a locker. Enter a valid mobile phone number and e-mail address. Pay the locker rental fee. Open the locker and place your luggage in it. To collect your luggage, select the link you received by text message or e-mail. The door will open. Blue locker (cash). Where can I see the locker opening times?

Each SBB station has different locker opening times. Search for your desired station on SBB.ch. The location-specific opening times are displayed there. Go to the stations Go to the lockers Go to luggage storage for large luggage

Can I use several lockers at the same time?

Yes. You can use several lockers at the same time. Please note that you can only rent one locker at a time. If you would like to rent several lockers, rent them one after the other.

I can’t operate the lockers myself. Where can I leave my luggage at the station?

You can either use the staffed luggage storage facilities at the SBB Travel Centre or request assistance from the SBB Contact Center Handicap, who can help you use the lockers. More information on luggage storage in the SBB Travel Centre More information on the SBB Contact Center Handicap

How much does a locker cost?

The cost of renting a locker depends on the size of the locker. Search for your desired station at sbb.ch/en/lockers and check the prices for your location. Go to the lockers Go to luggage storage for large luggage

What is the maximum time I can store my luggage in the locker?

Red and grey lockers (cash, credit cards, Twint and much more): max. 96 hours. Blue lockers (Credit cards and Twint via smartphone): max. 96 hours. Blue lockers (cash): max. 72 hours. More information on rental periods and types of lockers

Is there an automatic debit when the locker rental is automatically extended?

No. You are debited at the end of the rental period.

Can I pay for my locker rental when I’m on the go?

No, because you only need to pay at the end of your locker rental. The rental is cancelled with the additional payment, and you can open the locker.

If I cancel my locker rental early, will I get a refund of some of the price I have paid?

No. No amounts will be refunded.

Does SBB exclude liability if my luggage is damaged?

Yes. SBB is not liable for the loss of or damage to the items stored.

Why do I have to provide my e-mail address and mobile phone number?

You will receive the collection code and the link to open the locker by e-mail and text message.

How long will my data be stored?

SBB is subject to a retention obligation and stores sales data for at least 10 years. More information

Will my data be passed on to third parties?

No. Please note that if the lockers are used illegally, the data may be passed on to the police.

Prices and payment.

The blue lockers will be largely digitalised and converted to cashless operation by the end of 2025. At the stations affected, staffed luggage deposit facilities where you can still pay with cash will be available at the SBB Travel Centre.

The new lockers (red/grey) will continue to accept cash.

You don’t need a smartphone for the payment. The new lockers accept CHF coins, Maestro, PostFinance Card, V Pay, Mastercard, Visa, American Express, myOne, Diners, Twint, JCB, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay and SBB gift cards.

Blue lockers (cash).

You don’t need a smartphone for the payment. The blue lockers (cash) accept CHF coins.

Blue lockers (Credit cards and Twint via smartphone).

Payment is made via your smartphone. Alternatively, you can use the staffed luggage storage service at the SBB Travel Centre and pay by card or cash.

Yes, this is possible if you provide the collection code to the person collecting the items.

Please note that the storage / handing over of illegal goods is not permitted.

Contactless handing over of goods is not possible.

You can also open the locker using another device because the collection code is always sent to you by e-mail as well as by text message. For example, you can use your laptop or someone else’s smartphone.

Here’s how it works:

Log in to your e-mail account on another device.
Retrieve the collection code in the e-mail.

You can open the blue lockers (cash) and the red and grey lockers (cash, credit cards, Twint and much more) without a smartphone.

Locker rental at Interlaken Ost

Hi! I would like to know if the locker at interlaken Ost is by every 24 hours or calendar date? I’m planning to use the locker from 8aug 11:43am to 10aug 6-7am. Does this mean I have to pay for 2 days or 3 days rental? Please help

You cannot count on their availability as Interlaken Ost is a very busy station and you are likeky not the only one to use this service. Alternatively, you can store it at the staffed baggage office during their opening times or change plans. Interlaken Ost station is run by BLS, not SBB. Kind regards,

Hi! Could anybody tell me if I can book a Luggage Locker in advance online on Zürich Hauptbahnof? Or if not what the chance (in general)may be that I find an available one on the spot (on 1 March Saturday)? Thx.

Purchasing Swiss Travel Pass

My sister and I are planning a trip to Switzerland in May for 13 days. We will be staying in 5 different cities and taking day trips from those cities to nearby places. We plan to purchase a 15 day 1st class Swiss Travel Pass. My question is - do we both register and purchase our own tickets, or does one of us purchase both tickets since we will always be together? Our thoughts is we both want to have the pass on our mobile phones during travel.

Hello OmaRoweLink opens in new window. The passes have to bear the names and dates of birth of each traveller. One can purchase both passes and simply forward a copy to the other person, respecting the condition I just mentioned. You can then add the Swiss Travel Pass to your wallet or simply show it as PDF document, together with your physical passport upon ticket check. May I give a small feedback on your itinerary?
Five bases in 15 days for our small country, is quite a lot; you will be kept busy with unpacking and packing, check-in and check-in out. Keep in mind that with each transfer you will loose half a day, if not more, time that you could spend with exploring our country; thus, you might want to list your bases so we can seek for optimisations.
