Which documents do I need to purchase a Day Pass Children?

None. The Day Pass Children is available for all children under 16 years old. For ticket inspection, the child must always have their personal ID or a SwissPass with them.

The Day Pass Children is available online on SBB.ch, in the SBB Mobile app, at ticket machines and at public transport points of sale. Purchase a Day Pass Children online Here’s how to purchase in the SBB Mobile app. Open the SBB Mobile app. Swipe the tiles at the top of the page to the left and click on Day Passes Switzerland. Select Edit passenger and then Enter passenger information. Enter the name and date of birth of the child and click on Save. Check the box for the child travelling, uncheck the box for yourself (if the child is travelling alone) and click on Accept. The Day Pass Children now appears in the selection. Follow the purchasing process. If the child is travelling without a smartphone: please print out the Day Pass Children via the link in the confirmation e-mail and give it to the child to present during the ticket inspection.

The Junior Travelcard allows children aged at least 6 and under 16 to travel for free for a whole year throughout Switzerland with a parent.

Parents do not need a SwissPass themselves to buy a Junior Travelcard for their child.

The accompanying parent must hold a valid ticket for 2nd or 1st class (e.g. a ticket, GA Travelcard, Point-to-Point Travelcard); the child can travel in either class for free.

The Junior Travelcard is free from the third child.

The Junior Travelcard is issued on the SwissPass.

Children’s Co-Travelcard.

The Children’s Co-Travelcard allows children aged at least 6 and under 16 to travel for free for a whole year throughout Switzerland when accompanied by a person aged 16 or over. The companion must hold a valid ticket (e.g. a ticket, a GA Travelcard, a Point-to-Point Travelcard).

The companion does not need a SwissPass themselves to buy a Children’s Co-Travelcard for the child.

The Children’s Co-Travelcard is issued on the SwissPass.

A companion can take a maximum of four children with them. Each child must have their own Children’s Co-Travelcard.

With a GA Travelcard for Children, children aged 6 or over and under 16 can travel alone and without restriction on public transport in Switzerland. The GA Travelcard for Children is a full GA Travelcard but at a reduced price.

It is ideal for children who commute to school or regularly travel on public transport, for example.

Tip: if a parent holds a GA Travelcard, we recommend you purchase a GA Travelcard Familia for Children.

GA Travelcard Familia for Children.

If at least one parent in the same household has a basic GA Travelcard (possible basic GA Travelcards are GA Travelcards for Adults, GA Travelcard for Youth, the GA Travelcard for 25 Year Olds, GA Travelcard for Seniors or the GA Travelcard for Disabled Persons), the GA Travelcard Familia for Children and GA Travelcard Familia for Youth (for single young people) are available at an advantageous price.

The second parent also receives a discount (Familia GA Travelcard for Adults) if a member of the household has a Familia GA Travelcard for Children or GA Travelcard for Youth in addition to the basic GA Travelcard for the mother or father. Please note that different documents are needed in order to purchase the GA Travelcard Familia for Children, the GA Travelcard Familia for Youth and the GA Travelcard Familia for Adults.

As GA Travelcards for family members are linked to a basic GA Travelcard, all GA Travelcards for one family must be on the SwissPass.

traveling with children younger than 6, need for reservation?

Hello, our group will be traveling with 2 children younger than 6 years old. As we are interested in the Gotthard panoramic express, will we need to also get seat reservations for them - since they do not pay for their ticket? Do not want to end up in a situation where they have to share our seats just because I didn't reserve/pay for them.Also, I am considering the first class Swiss pass because firstly, the Gotthard express requires first class tickets anyway and also secondly, my main concern is not getting seats on busy rides or not getting seats as a family. This is considering the fact I have 2 young children and luggages, it is preferable we seat together. My itinerary is as such - Zurich > Lucerne > Lugano (via Gotthard express) > Grindewald > Zurich. Is the first class pass worth it? Thank you in advance for any advice!

Hello @estLink opens in new window. If you want a seatreservation for your children then you have to pay for it. We recommend to do the reservations in the Panorama trains for the other trains it's normally not nessesary. In first class you will have more space and the seat are more comfortable. You can do also only a class change for a partial route. Greetings, AuroraD.

saver day pass questions

Hi,We are planning to stay in Zurich for three nights in the summer and want to plan a day trip to Lucern from Zurich. On the day in Lucern, I am thinking to visit Rigi mountain in the morning and the rest of the time in the city of Lucern. I have two kids, 12 and 14 years old. Should I buy saver day pass for adults and day pass for children? May I ask if saver day pass and children's day pass can cover all transportation, such as round way train tickets from Zurich to Lucern, the lift ticket to the top of Rigi Mountain, boat ticket from Lucern train station to the stop of the Rigi Mountain ?

Hello @maggiely2023Link opens in new window. I, personally, would not stay in Zurich with a family. Lucerne is much nicer and offers a lot more for children, compared to Zurich. The latter is rather a banking city and not conveniently located for day trips to other parts of the country. Plus, Zurich is expensive, not matter what. If you do not have family there, consider a change of base.The Saver Day Pass and the Children Day Pass is fully covering the Mt. Rigi visit, so does it also includes the boat ride from Lucerne to Vitznau. Make sure you will catch one of the paddle steamers, this will be great fun for the kids and unique in the world! The Museum of transport is also great fun and very interesting for kids.For the kids, I recommend the Junior Card. It costs CHF 30.- per child and is valid for 1 year. With it, kids travel for free everywhere provided you as parents hold a valid ticket. It is available at the train station only.Kind regards,

We plan to purchase the Saver-Day-Pass....

Hello? This is a family of foreign tourists.
There are two adults (51 years old, 54 years old), two male college students (21 years old, 22 years old), and one male high school student (15 years old), all five.
Stay at Grindelwald for 3 nights and 4 days.
I will purchase a 3 day Jungfrau Travel Pass ticket.
We plan to purchase the Saver-Day-Pass dated August 7, 2023 and August 10, 2023. There is no discount card.
One family representative registered as SBB member and has one ID.

1. Log in with the representative ID and register the names and information of the remaining four people,
Can I buy 5 tickets at a time?
2. Four adults and four college students have four second-class Saver-Day-Pass seats for August 7,
Can I buy 4 second class Saver-Day-Pass tickets for August 10th?
3. Should a 15-year-old high school student purchase one second class Day Pass Children for August 7th and one second class Day Pass Children for August 10th?
4. Do I have to print out the purchased Pass and keep it?
