The Night GA Travelcard is ideal if you are aged under 25 and are often on the move in the evenings. Because the Night GA Travelcard lets you enjoy unlimited travel in 2nd class on SBB trains, most other railways and many other public transport services in Switzerland from 7pm to 5am (on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays until 7am) – as if you had a GA Travelcard.

The area of validity for the Night GA Travelcard corresponds to that of the GA Travelcard.

The Night GA Travelcard is valid for one year from its first day of validity. 

Yes. If you turn 25 while your Night GA Travelcard is valid, you can continue to use it until the end of the period of validity. However, you cannot buy a Night GA Travelcard after your 25th birthday.

Until you turn 25, you can buy the Night GA Travelcard for one year for CHF 99. The Night GA Travelcard is available for the 2nd class.

First-time purchase online.

When purchasing online, the most important thing is your customer number in the format 000-000-000-0. If you have or had a SwissPass or a public transport travelcard in the last five years, you can find this number on your SwissPass card and use it to purchase your Night GA Travelcard online.

If you used to have a travelcard but have forgotten the customer number, you can find out what it is by going to a public transport point of sale or phoning the SBB Contact Center on 0848 44 66 88 (CHF 0.08/min.).

First-time purchasing online with an identity check.

If you do not yet hold a travelcard or a SwissPass, you can still buy your new Night GA Travelcard online. If you are buying a travelcard for the first time, we need to verify your identity. This identity check takes place online – you will need your passport or ID card and a smartphone with a camera.

Online purchase with an identity check is not possible for other persons.

You may also want to know: if you wish to buy the Night GA Travelcard for your children, you can do so, as long as you and your child hold SwissPass cards with a linked SwissPass login. To buy for your child, select Purchase a travelcard for another person during the purchasing process.

Note: a SwissPass login is linked with SBB.ch if the customer number is stored in your profile on SBB.ch. After signing in, click on your initials, then on Profile and then on Update details in the Personal details tile. If the customer number is displayed in the form 000-000-000-0, it means it is linked.

Purchase at a staffed public transport point of sale.

Of course, you can also purchase the Night GA Travelcard at a staffed public transport point of sale. Please bring your SwissPass (if you have one) and your passport/ID card. If you are purchasing for another person, then please bring the documents for this person (e.g. for your child).

The Night GA Travelcard does not renew automatically. If you would like to renew your expired Night GA Travelcard, you can buy a new one online or use the link in the renewal e-mail.

You can also register on swisspass.ch and set up an e-mail or SMS text reminder for the last day of validity for your Night GA Travelcard under ‘Contact channel’.

First-time purchasing online with SwissPass.

If you already have a SwissPass or used to have another public transport travelcard, we will use the same photo for your new travelcard. Children and young people aged at least 6 and under 25 only need a new photo if the current photo was taken more than five years ago.

First-time purchasing online with an identity check.

If you are purchasing a Night GA Travelcard for the first time and do not yet have a SwissPass or travelcard, you can upload your digital passport photo once the purchasing process (including the identity check) is complete. 

If you would like a new photo before the time limit has been reached (ten years for those aged 25 or older, five years for under 25s), please visit a staffed public transport point of sale. The new photo will be taken directly on site. You can then get a new SwissPass card with the new photo for a fee of CHF 30.

Purchasing online with a SwissPass.

If you already have a SwissPass, you will need the following documents to purchase your GA Travelcard for the first time online.

• Debit or credit card (PostFinance Card / PostFinance Pay, Mastercard, Visa, Reka Card, American Express, Diners, JCB or myOne), Twint.
• Passport or ID card.
• When buying online, you can enter details for the following types of ID: passports and ID cards issued in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, France, Italy or Liechtenstein. 

Purchasing online with an identity check.

When purchasing with the identity check, you can only buy a Night GA Travelcard for yourself. You will need:

• a smartphone with a camera.
• a debit or credit card (PostFinance Card / PostFinance Pay, Mastercard, Visa, Reka Card, American Express, Diners, JCB or myOne), Twint.
• a recent, high-quality, digital passport photo.
• a passport or ID card.

Purchasing at a public transport point of sale.

To purchase for the first time at a public transport point of sale, you need the passport/ID card for yourself or the other person (for example, if you are purchasing a Night GA Travelcard for your child as a parent or for another person).

Your Night GA Travelcard on the SwissPass will be valid from its first day of validity.

This is your first SwissPass?

Your Night GA Travelcard on the SwissPass will be delivered by post within around ten days. If you would like your Night GA Travelcard to be valid earlier, we can provide a temporary SwissPass. If you would like your new GA Travelcard to be valid earlier, we can provide a temporary SwissPass.

You cannot deposit or return your Night GA Travelcard. A refund is possible if you purchase a GA Travelcard from the standard GA Travelcard range instead.

The Night GA Travelcard is valid from 7pm. Validity is based on the scheduled departure time. For departures before 7pm, a ticket valid as far as the first stop made by the train after 7pm must be purchased. This rule also applies to journeys with EasyRide or other check-in/check-out solutions.

The Night GA Travelcard is valid up to the last stop reached before 5am / 7am at the weekend and on public holidays. For travel after 5am / 7am, please buy a ticket.

• If you hold a Night GA Travelcard and are aged 16 or over, please buy a full price ticket for your chosen route.
• If you hold a Night GA Travelcard and a Half Fare Travelcard or if you hold a Night GA Travelcard and are 15 years old or younger, buy a half-price ticket for the rest of your journey.

No, you do not need a Half Fare Travelcard to buy a Night GA Travelcard.

To travel in 1st class, you need to buy a 1st class upgrade for the route you wish to travel.

• If you hold a Night GA Travelcard and are 16 or over, buy a first-class upgrade for the route you wish to travel.
• If you hold a Night GA Travelcard and a Half Fare Travelcard and are 15 years old or younger, buy a half-price first-class upgrade for the route you wish to travel.
• You cannot buy a 1-day class upgrade for a Night GA Travelcard.

You can buy class upgrades for a specific route online on SBB.ch, in the SBB Mobile app and from ticket machines. So you always have the option of going 1st class.

If you leave your SwissPass at home or in the office, you can display it very easily in the SBB Mobile app in the Tickets & SwissPass tab (you must have a login with linked customer number).

Alternatively, you can buy a card with temporary validity for a fee of CHF 5 from a public transport point of sale upon presentation of official ID.
