Liability in general.
Liability for partial or total loss, damage and delayed delivery of luggage shall be governed by the Swiss Federal Passenger Transport Act (PTA) and the applicable Passenger Transport Ordinance of the Swiss Federal Council. This matter is also described in Tariff 602 Luggage.
Liability for damage.
If damage has occurred, the transport company shall be liable for any proven damage up to the amount of CHF 2,000 per item. In case of partial damage, compensation for repair costs – for bicycles, for example – is provided in line with the repair quote and up to the sum given above.
Liability in the event of delays.
In the event of a delay in delivery, the transport company is liable for any proven damage, with receipts provided for emergency purchases of urgently needed clothing and toiletries and for bicycle, ski or skiing equipment rental. This can be up to CHF 200 per item per 24 hour period, or part thereof, that the delivery time is exceeded, but for no longer than 14 days (maximum liability up to CHF 2,000, analogous to that for total loss).
Liability for lost items.
In the event of an item being lost, the transport company shall be liable for the verifiable value of the lost item and its contents, as well as for the value of replacement and emergency purchases made during the loss period, up to a maximum of CHF 2,000 per item.
